Final Illustrator Logo

 Today the final logos were due and this is what I came up with: 


It's boring and I don't care! I like it that way! The colors just popped up on my dashboard when I opened the app, and I loved them, so obviously I used them. I found one the fonts that didn't make me viscerally angry, and just made it bigger and stretched it a bit, and then made the stroke around the circle a big thicker so it would show, but not too much. 

I honestly didn't have that many ideas for a logo; I think that I'm a bit too young and don't really know what I want my "personal brand" to even resemble, and that probably poses some issue when making a logo for a brand, but I couldn't think of any company to make one for, so this is what we got, and I'm fine with it.

Final Thoughts

I decided to take this class simply because it was a pre-requisite for other classes that I might want to take in the future. However, I'm really glad I stuck with it, because I really didn't want to in the beginning. Learning new stuff and sharing creative work is always very hard for me (I worry a lot about what other people think), so I really wasn't sure that I wanted to stay in this class, but I realized that I had the opportunity to gain a new skill, something that could really help me in any future career I pick. My favorite program to use was Photoshop, but even though I wasn't any good at Illustrator, it motivates me to learn more about how to use it, so I can be really skilled at it. Yeah, some things about the process might be tedious, like cleaning up lines in Photoshop to be excessively precise, or hand-placing all the points in Illustrator to trace an image (I cannot figure out a better way to do that), but at the end it all can come together to create som...

Guided Meditation

 Today I finally got around to trying the guided meditation sent out in at the end of March, and I don't think it went as it should have. I have tried these types of meditations before, as I used to be an athlete and our coaches wanted us to practice mindfulness of our bodies and how we see ourselves doing our sport, but even then these types of videos and audios never quite worked for me. My mind tends to be thinking of a million things at once, and even when trying to be completely clear-headed, I'll hear a noise within the audio or feel something brush past me that gets me thinking of a whole other thing, and just like that I'm back where I've started. I do sometimes like to use white noise to help me fall asleep, and I know that ASMR videos are very popular to help people calm themselves and meditate, but I think for myself I just have to find other resources if I want to use digital media in my life.

Avatar: Way of Water

I was scrolling TikTok the other day, as one does, when I started seeing edits of the latest Avatar movie that came out last year. I had seen it in January, but I realized that I hadn't written a journal about it, so that's what I'm doing today. It's especially fitting because I'm guessing about 90% of that movie is digital effects.  The whole movie is just a massive step up from the first one visually. Obviously the surface level plot is good guys fighting bad guys, but what I think caught most people's attention was the incredible worlds and creatures they were able to create. Every scene, both under and above water, looked so real that you would never think it was all green screen and digitally produced. My favorite moments are when the family first arrive at the ocean village, and start learning how to work and live with the water.
