Midterm Update

 I just complied and compressed all my files from this first half of the semester (I hope I compressed them right), and just wanted to update on how the semester has gone so far. I honestly didn't quite know what to expect starting this class this year, but I am really proud of what I have been able to accomplish with my projects so far, especially in Photoshop. We started with Midjourney, which is incredibly fun to use, and I never would have found out about about a resource like that if I hadn't been in this class. It took a minute to get the hang of it at first, but now I have a really good understanding of what keywords I need to use within the prompts to get what I want, as well as how to change the orientation or the quality of the photo.

Then we started using Photoshop, which when we started I really thought I was never going to be able to use it because it was so complicated. But, as we did projects with it and were able to practice with the program, it became much easier to get what I wanted to create in each image, and I started to understand how it works until I was confident in what I was doing (for the most part). 

Now, we are starting to learn how to use Illustrator, which is just as hard (maybe harder) as Photoshop when we first started using it, but I'm sure as we practice more and watch different tutorials, we will get to that level of understanding that I have now in Midjourney and Photoshop. All in all, throughout this semester I have been able to create things that I never would have thought I was capable of creating, and I'm really glad that I've had the opportunity to try these programs and expand my digital skills.

Photo Collage

 This week our assignment was to create our own kind of safe space in Photoshop (with our own pictures) and play with the hues and color balances as well. This is what I did:  I freaking love this. Like my previous entry, I'm in a bit of a Barbie mood, so I knew whatever I did, I wanted it to end up bright pink. I took a landscape photo from a few years ago at the Morikami Gardens in Boca Raton, and then added some elements that mean a lot to me. In the back, I added some mountains from a picture I took in Red Rock Park, when I took my first solo flight to visit my friend in Las Vegas. As We May Think

  Vannevar Bush's article, "As We May Think", details the history of technology up to that point, and how he thinks technology will advance in the future. The article is broken into eight sections, in which each of them described a different piece of technology and how it will evolve, especially through the lens of record taking (pictures, writings, etc.). For example, in the second section, he explains how photography is progressing at the time into what we know today. He explains that the process of photography is changing, that the hardware of the camera itself will change from a cord with a button to just the button on the camera itself -- basically describing today's cameras. He also predicts how images will be developed in the future, how the traditional wet developing of film will eventually convert into dry photography or the image being available immediately, and also how that will affect video media, like television and movies.  In the third section, he goe...

Wagner to VR Reading #2

 One thing that stuck out to me from Nelson's chapter of the reading, especially considering how we use computers today, is his mention of branching. He states that branching is all the different functions and options a specific machine (computer) or program can provide within a specific subject, using text and music as examples. I think this has assisted in how I do my work digitally through programs like Google and Adobe, where they each have different functions that are all still related within the program. For example, concerning text, Google has Docs, Slides, Forms, and Sheets to keep people text related documents together. For images and videos, Adobe has all the different programs within their suite, like Premiere Rush, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Lightroom, so people can edit, create, and modify pictures and videos under one app.  In Goldberg and Kay's piece, I was very surprised at how well they predicted the systems of today, starting with their vision for the Dynabo...
